City Steam And The Brew Ha Ha Present: Jim McCue - Founder of the Boston Comedy Festival

with Mike Speirs and Jeremy Goff

A mixture of witty “A-list material” and his ability to work off-script has earned Jim McCue the title “Boston’s King of Crowd Work!” It’s not only his height of six foot six that makes Jim stand head and shoulders above club comedians of the “stick-to-the-script” variety. Jim blends thought-provoking material and uncanny improv skills with a style that encourages audience participation. No two shows are ever the same!

Jim has been featured on Comedy Central, Comcast Comedy Spotlight, NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” and “Roughing It” on NESN in his native New England. Jim also founded and currently runs The Boston Comedy Festival. He works in top comedy clubs in Boston, Las Vegas, New York, Dublin, Montreal, Sydney and Edinburgh.

Since 1999 Jim has also entertained U.S. troops at more than 100 bases around the world. An account of his experiences performing for the troops has recently been published in Embedded Comedian which Jim describes as a “field manual for comedians in a war zone.”

With his unique act, Jim keeps the audience on its toes. Volleying between set material and working the crowd, Jim cracks jokes with amazing timing and whip-like precision. A unique blend that is sure to leave the audience roaring with laughter!

Mike Speirs

Mike Speirs is a tremendously funny comedian whose likeability and quick wit always keeps the crowd engaged and highly entertained. Now in his 30's, Mike's life is in a transition phase. Mike's act takes a fresh and honest look at who he is, what he was and what he hopes to become. Whether he is talking about the joy and pain of being a public school teacher, surviving open heart surgery, or just reminiscing about striking out with women while bar-hopping in his former life, one thing is certain...every time Mike takes the stage audiences are sure to be alive, energized and clamoring for more.

Jeremy Goff

On March 12, 2015 I made my onstage comedy debut at Cabot Pub II in Chicopee, MA. It was both terrifying and electrifying, for me anyway. I can't speak for those that were in attendance. From there on I knew there was no going back. Since then I have performed at the Hu Ke Lau, the Brew Haha Comedy Club, Foxwoods, the Hartford Funnybone and have become a regular at Mohegan Sun. I am also the House Emcee at Cabot Comedy Club in Chicopee. I have performed alongside some great comedians such as Paul Virzi, Ray Harrington, John Moses, Jesse Joyce, Kurt Metzger and Mitch Fatel. As the Grateful Dead once said, "what a long strange trip it's been". Except the trip hasn't been all that long and it's been more amazing than strange. Not sure where I was going with that. Anyway, thanks for stopping by. Please remember to turn off the lights when you leave.
